Reik

In my Spanish 3 class our teach showed us this song that I actually really liked. It's called "Inolvidable" by Reik. It's actually pretty funny because I don't even know that the title means, and I can't understand probably 95% of the song, but I love it. It's a pretty pop song that has a very good up beat throughout the whole song. I would have never thought I would find out a song that I like in Spanish but I was completely wrong. I think that if you like pop songs, you should check this out. Plus, if you can understand Spanish, you'll like it even more.

Massive attack

I really enjoyed listening to Massive Attack this week and the cool visuals that came along with it. I have never really been a person to listen to that type of music though. Their music seems to have a sort of hypnotic feel to it. I do think that the album we listened to by them would be a perfect type of music to listen to during long car ride at night like Mr. A said. I also think this would be a fun album to listen to when your working out or trying to get pumped up for something because the music is so soothing. This may be one one of my favorite albums we have listened to all year.

Aerosmith

My parents just recently bought a DVD showing the performances of Aerosmith in his concerts. I have been a fan of this band with some of their songs like "Crazy" and "I don't Want To Miss a Thing". After watching the DVD with my family, I would have to say that I would rather just listen to his music rather than see him perform the. The reason to this is  because he seems like such a creepy freak when he performs. The way the lead singer just looks freaks me out. I also don't enjoy watching him make sexual gestures every 5 seconds in all of his songs. The lead singer does have a really good voice and I enjoy his music, but I'm just going to have to stick to listening to him rather than watching.

Hello

II have always been a Lionel Richie fan, but I have to say that I have never actually sat down and watched any of his music videos. When we were watching his music video to "Hello", I laughed my butt off. That music video was probably one of the most creepy and irrelevant videos I've ever seen. In no way would I have ever thought that that song was being sung to a blind girl. I am still very excited about seeing him at ACL though even though most of my friends could care less about him. I think he is a very different performer to come than usual to ACL so it's going to be interesting to see what crowd he attracts.

Freaky Friday to technology

I always seem to watch movies and then hear a song that i just love and have to have. For some reason I was watching Freaky Friday with Lindsay Lohan, and at the end of the movie I heard this song that sounded pretty cool. I had luckily just gotten this app on my phone called Shazam that will listen to any song being played, and it will tell you what it is. It told me that the song was "Brand New Day" by Forty Foot Echo. It's a really good song with a good story to it that I think a lot of people would like. I just love how now a days we have such great tools to help us find the music we like. Now I use Shazam anytime I want to know what awesome music I'm listening to.

Review of class

I thought that when Mr. A was showing us his friend that made a whole band of himself and robots, I thought it was going to be the most interesting thing. It turned out to actually be one of the most bizarre and creepy things I have ever seen. The robots looks so scary, and the voices that they were made to have made them sound like they were possessed. I would have to say though that I have never seen anything like that before, so I do give that guy a high five on creativity. I guess if you can't get along well with people yet you don't want to give up being part of a band, robots is for sure the way to go. Even though I can imagine how much time it takes to take all the robots everywhere you go and have to set them up. I think it would be cool to see this band perform because I've never seen anything like it and he seems to play very well know songs, but the robots may just be a little too creepy for me.

Overrated

All of my friends have been talking about going to the Juicy J concert that was this past Friday night. It was really annoying to me to hear all of my friends talk about it because I think he is just way overrated and not even a good rapper. Honestly, I feel like I could listen to the first 20 seconds of his songs, and I would have already heard the whole song. I can't listen to things that are so repetitive and don't have a good and unique verse after every course. I don't recommend listening to any of his stuff because I think there are many other modern rappers that are much more talented than him like Kendrick Lamar for example. All of his verses sound unique and have the best flow. He's a real rapper.

RIP

It was very interesting to talk about the passing of one of Anderson's students this week. It made our class grow into the conversation of religion, God, life and death. I believe that I am a strong Christian, but after some points that were brought up it really had me thinking. I had never thought about how much people death just because no one on earth really knows what happens after you pass away. What if your life meant nothing and there was nothing after you die? I personally hope and believe that there is more after you die, but I have faith. I like having conversations like these in class because it really makes me see things from other people's perspectives that I hadn't before.

Katy Perry

I have to talk about the one and only Katy Perry. I would probably have to admit that I totally have a crush on her because she is so gorgeous and awesome. Katy has such a strong voice, and all of her performances are so strong that she makes it feel like she's singing directly to you. I always get this vibe from
Her that she is so chill and that she is really easy to relate to. She has so many different songs that are about break ups, partying, and many more things. Some of my favorite songs by her are her main stream songs like "TGIF" and "Teenage Dream". Katy just has such a strong presence, like when she walks into a room all eyes turn to her. She is beautiful and I love her and I think that anyone and everyone should check her out if they haven't already.

Nirvana

I enjoy being able to watch and listen to a band perform, so I was excited about being able to do that with Nirvana. I have heard some songs by them, but I wasn't really a huge fan because i just heard their songs as they came on the radio. I must say that after a while of listening to them, all their songs started to sound the same to me. I did think that it was really cool how there was a very exclusive and "close" atmosphere between the audience and the performers of Nirvana. I remember a certain point in the movie where the head singer just ask the audience for any song requests they had. I think that the most important feeling a band can do to their audience is make them feel like they have their own relationship with them and that they really care to entertain them to the best of their ability. I can conclude that Nirvana is not my favorite band, but I for sure think that they are a chill and thoughtful band.

My family

So tomorrow is my family reunion. My uncle from Colorado came down just so he could play again with my dad, cousins, and other uncles. I have never heard all of my family play together before, so watching them practice right now is just amazing to watch. I never knew how awesome my family was and just how many musicians are in my family. Tomorrow, Saturday, is the day that they actually perform live in front of all my family. It's going to be one of the most memorable nights of my life.

Review of class

The album that we listened to in class today was not my favorite. I'm not really into rap, so I wasn't expecting it to be my favorite. Also, I don't think that there should ever be a song longer than like 6 minutes. The last song on the album we listened to was a little over 12 minutes, and I just think that is crazy and way to long. I did think that the album did have really good transitions to songs through out. I wouldn't say that it was a albums I hate, but it for sure not my favorite.

SNL

I really enjoyed watching some SNL in class the other day, especially because all of the music performances were great. To me, it seems as if a lot of the more recent SNL music performances haven't been good. For example, I remember watching some girl named Jessie J perform one time on SNL and I absolutely hated it. I wasn't her song that I hated, it was just how tone deaf she was. In more recent years I just feel as a whole that the quality of a performers live quality has gone down as whole. Now we have all this fancy equipment to fix every little thing we don't like about our voices. I have no desire to see any current "big stars" right now love because I know I will be greatly disappointed.

U2

My dad has always been a huge U2 fan, so as I was growing up I was pretty exposed to this band. After listening to them a lot with my dad and jamming out with him, I started to really like this band as well. One of my all time favorite songs has to be "Where The Streets Have No End" by U2. That song probably has one of the most sick intros to a song that just get me pumped up. Then, the first lyric to that song is "I wanna run" and I think it's the most perfect lyric for that song because thats exactly what I wanna do after I hear the badass into that song has. I think that everyone should go check this band out sometime.

My dad and uncles

On April 13 my family is having a huge family reunion. Before I was born, my dad and 3 of my uncles played in a band all together. My dad was mainly the bass player of the band, but he also sometimes played guitar. I have heard some of their stuff on CD's and tapes, but never live. I'm looking forward to finally watching what all my family talks about. I think since it's my own family performing, it's just going to make things that much more awesome.

Review of class

I really enjoyed watching different techniques of how people can mix and dj music. I have honestly never really been interested in that kind of stuff before, but after watching only a 50 second clip of it in class, it had me hooked and I would for sure love to learn more about it. It's crazy how some people can take something old that an artist made that was known by no one, and then turn it into a hit that is known world wide. I wish the people of the original work would get more credit, but I guess you can't have everything you want.

Florida Georgia Line

I was listening to the radio one day and I heard this song called "Get Your Shine On", and ever since then I have been obsessed with it. I found out that the song was sang by a band called Florida Georgia Line. They are a country band so I thought that I would like their other songs so I decided to check them out. But then while I was looking at their other songs, I didn't really find anything else that I liked. So in the end, I guess I'm just going to go download the one songs I like by them, but never get a whole album.

Bon Jovi/ Def Leopard/ Aerosmith

I know a lot of people think that bands like Aerosmith, Def Leopard, and Bon Jovi are a little crazy in their attire and the way they perform, but I love it. I actually really enjoy listening to their songs, and their extremely exaggerated performance just make it that much more entertaining. Sometimes I like to just watch their music videos and laugh at everything they do! I have a pretty big connection to these bands because my mom and I have always listened and jammed out to them together. Out of every band I mentioned earlier, Def Leopard is by far my favorite band because I always like the awesome guitar solos. I think "Animal" and "Pour Some Sugar On Me" are my favorite songs so you should totally check those songs out.

ACL

I have never been to ACL before in my life and I have always hated hearing all of my friends talk about how awesome it is. So this year I decided enough was enough, and I am going to go to ACL for the first time ever this year. I already have my money saved up for it, and I'm ready to experience ACL for the first time. All I'm saying is that it better be as awesome as everyone makes it sounds because I am spending a lot of freaking money on this. I'm mostly excited to hear all different kinds of music from many different bands. I can't wait for ACL to come this year.

Funk/lyrics

I think this week of class was probably one of my favorite of the entire year. I absolutely love listening to funk music because all it makes me want to do is dance. Of course I liked listening to the famous Michael Jackson and Kool & The Gang. I thought it was very interesting to discuss how punk and funk were similar and different. In the end I think I would have to agree with Mr. A in the way that they both are not that different after all. I also really enjoyed analyzing songs such as "More Than Words". I do think that that song is very beautiful and sung very well, but the actual meaning is very different.

Class review

I did not like what we listened to in class this week. It might of honestly been the worst thing we have listened to all year. The whole album sounded like a woman screaming her head off, to random loud to rock music. I enjoyed the class this week where we talked about gun rights in class though. Many points of how more guns could harm our society rather than help it were brought to my attention for the first time by Mr. A. I really enjoy listening to these kinds of opinions that people have because it really makes me see things from other perspectives.

Rodeo

Of course everyone is really excited for spring break to come. I am most excited about going to the rodeo to see one of my favorite country bands perform. The band I'm going to go see is the Eli Young Band. I have heard nothing but great things about this band performing live so I'm looking forward to it. I'm also going with my best friend and brother so that just makes it that much more fun.

Journey

I absolutely love listening to old rock bands mainly because that's what my dad listens to, and I always love to join along with him. Out of all the bands that we like to listen to, the one and only Journey is for sure one of our favorites. This band is pretty much known by everyone, and If someone doesn't know who they are then they need help. Some of my favorite songs by them is "Open Arms", "Faithfully", and of course "Don't Stop Believing". Always when I listen to this band, I think of my dad and all the great times we have jamming out to these guys and it's awesome. All the songs Journey sing tell a really interesting and good story, and I feel as if this band has a lot of different songs that many people can relate to.

Stevie Wonder

I loved listening to Stevie Wonder in class because he is such an inspiration to all musicians around the world. It's mind blowing to me how he can be blind, yet still be one of the most amazing musicians to ever live. I think that I saw somewhere that Wonder plays like 14 different instruments. I would have to say that his very popular song "Superstition" is one of my favorite songs he ever did. It's also pretty cool to here that song covered by so many different artists over the years. I think it's really funny when I think of that song because it was once played on this show called "That's so Raven", which use to be my favorite show as a kid, and that song always make me think of that and it makes me smile. I'm really looking forward to listening to more musicians such as Wonder in the future, mainly in the genre of soul, funk, and you can even throw some jazz in there.

The one and only Carrie Underwood

The picture above is what Carrie Underwood wore when she performed at the Grammy's this year. She was for sure one of my favorite singers to perform overall at the Grammy's. I would have to say that although she did awesome, many of the other performances were awful in my opinion. For example, i do not know why they let Taylor Swift open for the Grammy's. I like T-Swift and all, but she is not good live and i only like to listen to her CD's because thats the only time she sounds good. Anyway, Carrie Underwood is one of the best singers live. She has this thing about her where you just can not take your eyes off of her, and her voice is so strong and smooth it makes everything awesome about her. I also like when she goes on these huge singing rages and makes it look so easy, like when she holds a note for like 5 minutes it seems.

Led Zeppelin

I

Once i heard that we were going to watch Led Zeppelin in class, i was really excited and looking forward to it. Then after listening and watching the video for a bit, i was pretty disappointed. I was not interested in the video that much and the movie actually started to annoy me after awhile. The music just sounded like a big long guitar solo that got old after awhile. It was kind of cool to see the band perform, but i was not a big fan of how their music sounded. In the end, their music just sounded all the same to me and like a long horrible song that would not end.

Bon Jovi

Lately i have not been really listening to Bon Jovi because i don't think he has released any new songs recently from what i know, but my friend the other day was talking about how she is going all the way to Nashville, Tennessee to see him perform. That actually really funny to me now because as i was looking at Bon Jovi pictures right now for my blog, i saw that he is coming to Austin in April. Anyway, i enjoy listening to Bon Jovi because as a kid my mom and i would always jam out to him and it always brings back really funny and good memories for me. I was looking into buying some tickets for my mom because Bon Jovi is one of her favorite artists, but after seeing the prices i do not think that is going to happen. It is hard for me to pick a favorite song by him, but i will put a few below that i really like.

                                               "Livin' On a Prayer"

                                                  "It's My Life"

                                                        "Wanted Dead or Alive"

Joni Mitchell

Joni Mitchell is probably one of the most interesting artists we have listened to in class, in my opinion. Her songs always seem to tell a story in her life that means a lot to her, and it is really fun to actually sit down and see what she is trying to say in her songs. I did not like all of the songs she had because i felt like in some of them she was just talking really fast and it did not flow very well. Although, the way she can change pitch when she sings was ridiculous. She is for sure a very talented woman, and I do agree with Mr. A in what he said about Joni making it look effortless.

Remix/Cover

I was on Facebook one day, and i saw this video someone posted that was a cover of a really well known song. I haven't really ever been interested in listening to other peoples covers of songs, but for some reason i decided to watch this one. I have to say that i like the cover this guy did way better than the original song. The guy who did the cover is James Dably and i think that everyone should check out his music because they all sound really cool. I really like his work because his voice is really smooth, and he has his own acoustics in the background and i know it took a lot of work to do what he did. My favorite song he covered is Ignition by R Kelly and i will post the cover by James below.

David Bowie

I do not think that i have ever really watched a character such as David Bowie in music. His appearance is so unique and odd that it actually makes me want to listen to him more, but more so just watch him perform. From the picture i posted above, i honestly can't even tell if it's a boy or a girl so i thought he fits the description of what we talked about in class very well. I do enjoy listening to his music but i don't think i could say he is one of my favorite that we have listened to this year. In the song below you can really see his unique look and character and i think that everyone should check it out.

Zac Brown Band

With all of the NFL playoffs going on right now, a lot of bands have been performing the National Anthem for the games, and i recently saw The Zac Brown Band so i decided to write about them. I like The Zac Brown Band, but i don't think that i could say they are one of my favorite country bands. Their lead singers voice is very strong and smooth though, and a lot of their music videos are very interesting to watch because they illustrate the story of the song very well. My favorite song by them is called "Colder Weather". I really like this song just because it is a nice love song and it has a beautiful piano entrance to the song. I think everyone should check out this band.

Led Zeppelin

After listening to Led Zeppelin in class, i think that they are an alright band. I would not be one to go out and buy their album or purchase any of their songs on itunes, but that being said i don't completely hate them. Their music did not interest me at all except for the very well known song "Stairway to Heaven". Hard rock and heavy metal has never been the music that i like to listen to. If i did have to recommend a song for people to listen to by them, it would be "Stairway to Heaven", even though i feel as if most people would have already heard this song.

Blake Shelton

Blake Shelton is for sure one of my favorite country singers, and he has been for a while. His voice is really low and very smooth. I also like to watch many of his music videos because they are usually pretty interesting and tell a good story throughout the song. Blake Shelton also happens to be one of the judges on X-factor and i think that his personality is very down to earth and he seems really nice, instead of like those stuck up snooty famous people. He has so many songs that i enjoy listing to, but i will put a few of my all time favorite ones below for people to check out.

                                                                  "Honey Bee"

                                                                 "God Gave Me You"

"Sure Be Cool If You Did"

VIdeo In Class

I thought that the video we watched in class was very interesting. I had never realized how much trouble people could get in from stealing music. It blew my mind when Mr. A pointed out that every restaurant needs a "music license" in order to play music aloud on the speakers for customers to enjoy. I also thought it was funny when it was pointed out that no restaurant sang the actual birthday song, but instead they make up there own. I really enjoyed watching the video because they used a lot of very well known songs in order to make a remix. I also thought it was interesting how during the movie when it was showing the concert, how the voice over was saying that it was illegal for them to play the music at that concert on the movie, so instead they of course played boring classical music. As an overall view of the movie, i think it is very informing and entertaining to watch and i would recommend anyone to go watch it.

Eli Young Band

I love the Eli Young Band! I am a really huge country fan, and they are one of my favorite band of all time! The reason that i am writing about them is because i just got tickets to their concert at the rodeo on March 11. It is a really long time away, but i am still really excitied and can't wait to go. I do not remember the last time i have been to a concert, so i am really looking forward to this one. I also really like their music videos too because they have a lot of meaning and a really good story line to them. I will put my favorite song and video below for you to watch.

Sabbath Death

After listening to Sabbath Death in class, i have to conclude that i really didn't like it. All the nosies, and screaming, and terrible vocals just made me really annoyed and i got a headache. I am not really a huge fan of the vocals in this group because they just sound like they are on crack. I honestly couldn't even understand what the vocals were saying half of the time, and when i would read the lyrics to the song, i would just think to myself, "Who on earth came up with this crap"? Out of everything we have listened to this year, i think this album takes the number one spot of most hated on my list.
